Health Psychology

When being asked what kind of exercise I did, I frankly told them I worked out 4 days per week if I could. A lot of them would respond ” Wow, that’s hard. It would be impossible for me.”

On the way home, I gave a thought on it.  Did I make it sound too hard ?

I think it’s because of the difference in perspective. For me, working out and studying nutrition are pleasurable activities. So, I love to continue with everything I am going.

It is same with many other bussiness in life, you can’t continue to do something / attain a goal, if you can’t find any pleasure in doing it. If you choose to do something out of fear of a dreadful consequence, it would never be pleasurable, and you won’t be able to continue with it, unless it is a matter of life or death ( i.e. you think you are being forced to)

So, here is how I derive pleasure from everyday gym routine

– doing affirmations, changing the negative thoughts I have

– keep looking at myself in the mirror and appreciates the new bikini body I have

– keep posing and taking photos

– wear beautiful gym clothes, so I appreciate my body everytime I look at the mirror while working out

– wear clothes that is fit for my body

– accept the reality, stop criticizing people having perfect bodies or healthier lifestyle and try to appreciate beautiful things/people around me

– trust that I am beautiful and perfect by myself. And I could change for the better too

– be good to myself, do only what is good for my body

– be happy , feel good.

I love my body. I enjoy everything I did that bring about the results… when I feel tired or unwell, I simply rest or do lighter exercises.

I no longer think about how much calorie I have to lose, or doubt whether the thing I am doing could really helps, the only consideration I have is, whether it is good for my body and whether I find it pleasurable and fun to do.

that’s why it is sustainable for me .

I hope it helps

Asthanga Yoga Full Primary Sequence

I am still looking for my yoga style.

I tried Asthanga yoga last week. I was a bit reluctant before I go… it sounded physically demanding, right ? when the class started, people started doing the sequence automatically with little prompt from the instructor.

I was like ” what the hell??? “

With my limited experience , I followed the whole sequence. It was quite physically demanding, as it was non-stop with lots of jumps, abds and core thing.

However, it’s very good for developing flexibility. The muscle sore (especially my inner thigh sore ) from resistance and weight training were completely gone after the first session.

I think it help develop flexibility (especially for a bit of hyperflexibility) – which is the exact thing I want to add to my workout routine.

I will continue with it… hopefully, when I am able to remember the sequence better, I can join their mysore practice, then the schedule will be more flexible.

MAC Cremeblend blush Optimistic Orange

Haven’t been writing for a while. MAC released lots of new stuffs these days, one of it is the ‘Shop MAC ‘ collection. Among many of the products, I love cremeblend blushes the most.

Unlike usual cream blush like that of Bobbi Brown, MAC Cremeblend is light and gel-like. It can be blended easily even with fingers, although some of their MUA recommend the use of 130 brush.

The color in this collection is extremely cheerful and bright.

Optimistic Orange is a bright coral/orange color, after being applied on the skin, it becomes reddish-orange in color and is surprisingly natural.

highly recommended.

Thought of the day:
– I hate winter, it’s too long this year.
– I wish I don’t need to work….
– feeling a bit tired.

Veld’s Eye Magic

Eye Magic  is one of the innovative product by the French brand Veld’s, I got this more than 1 year ago, but I didn’t really use it till lately. I was looking for an eye illuminator and I saw this on my drawer. So I gave it a try again, and I instantly fell in love with it again !

It covers my eye bags and dark circle well, very pigmented. The consistency is great, it is just a bit runnier than cream eye concealers, so it feels hydrating.

Most importantly, it is an skin-care product, not an makeup product, not only is it feels healthy on my skin, it also keeps my eye area nicely hydrated , yet, with coverage. My under eye area never goes cake-y with it !

So far, unexpectedly, this is the best under eye concealer I have.

It is a little bit pricier than regular concealer, but it worths.

Clippings : Asian everyday makeup

argh… contouring is difficult, I never got the facial lanscape of Caucasians. I love my own features, but the different in facial characteristics as an Asian make    makeup difficult sometimes. It’s either too done, not soft enough or too rough and simple.

My best features is my skin, cheek, nose and mouth… may be I should give up trying to contour my eyes ( which never succeed, so my friends never see me doing this, even though I keep trying )

And here I found – the excellent blog post/ video from Lisa Eldridge

Philosophy Body Spritz

I always wonder how body spritz / mists smell/feel on skin, since I never own one. From what I learn from the internet, they are pretty natural – not offensive, I mean.

This body spritz by Philosphy sounds nice, do anyone have any idea about this ?

Something green…

This time, I write about something I love to do lately.

I went playing golf for the first time last Saturday. Although was at night, walking through the grasses, leisurely practice striking the ball…  is so relaxing !

Luckily there are public golf courses in Hong Kong with all those green, lakes and sands… It’s so nice to play, chit-chat, while walking through the beautiful landscape of the nature, with a little bit of sun.

I went through the details of different golf courses here.. argh…  hope I can play at Hong Kong Golf Club – no matter as member or visitor… the landscape is so beautiful.
